Veteran actor Donald Sutherland’s death was announced with his son Kiefer Sutherland posting a heartfelt tribute to his late father, celebrating his legacy and the path he paved for his children.
While The Dirty Dozen star had an extensive film and television career spanning 60 years, his children have also followed in his footsteps.
Kiefer Sutherland may be the most well-known of the star’s five kids, but all have ended up in the media industry in some way.
Newsweek takes a look at each of his offspring’s Hollywood tales.
Kiefer Sutherland
The eldest of Donald’s sons, Kiefer was born in London in 1966, along with his twin sister Rachel, before the family moved to California shortly after.
His first acting role came when he was a teenager, in Max Dugan Returns, with his first major role in The Bay Boy in 1984. That part earned him a Genie award nomination for best actor.
IMBD lists Kiefer in 107 roles, with potentially his most-known role being that of Jack Baur in the TV series 24.
In 2016, he starred alongside his father in the movie Foresaken.
Kiefer has one daughter, Sarah, whom he had with his first wife Camilia Lynn. The couple were married for nearly three years before their divorce in February 1990.
He married again, to Kelly Winn, in 1996 before they divorced in 2004. There was also a romance with Julia Roberts, but that ended before the couple married.
Rachel Sutherland
Rachel is Donald Sutherland’s only daughter and twin to Kiefer. She works as a production manager and producer.
She has worked on series including Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, Nurses and The Kennedys.
Rachel has largely stayed out of the spotlight, but can be seen in a photo alongside her siblings as their father received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011.
Roeg Sutherland
Born in 1974, Roeg is Donald Sutherland’s third child and the first with second wife Francine Racette.
Roeg works as a producer and talent manager, with his singular producer credit on IMDB for the 2024 movie Emilia Perez.
He has also worked to finance various media projects through his role with the Creative Artists Agency.
Rossif Sutherland
Born in Vancouver in 1978, Rossif began acting while at Princeton University.
He has appeared in just over fifty films and TV showed, including The Handmaid’s Tale, Catastrophe and Essex County.
Angus Sutherland
The youngest of Donald’s children, Angus was born in Los Angeles in 1982 and has also followed his family into the world of acting and production.
He worked as a producer on the 2019 move 1917, and has appeared in Familiar Strangers and Dollhouse among others as an actor.
