Amazon MGM Studios announced at its Upfronts event in New York that a Road House sequel is in the works with Jake Gyllenhaal reprising his role as Dalton. Plot details are being kept under wraps for the sequel.
The studio also announced that Road House sequel has attracted nearly 80 million worldwide viewers to-date. The film premiered on Prime Video March 21 and attracted a record-breaking over 50 million worldwide viewers over its first two weekends, becoming Amazon MGM Studios’ most-watched produced film debut ever on a worldwide basis.
It is unknown at this time if any other components are involved including director Doug Liman as well as any of Gyllenhaal’s cast mates. The rebooted pic of the classic 80s Patrick Swayze action movie followed Dalton (Gyllenhaal), an ex-UFC fighter who comes to clean up a bar in the Florida Keys.
