ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 5. Kazakhstan’s
QazaqGaz (national company) and China National Petroleum
Corporation (CNPC) have discussed strategic issues of current joint
megaprojects in the field of gas transportation, Trend reports.
Discussions took place between Sanzhar Zharkeshov, the Chairman
of the Board of QazaqGaz, and Dai Houliang, Chairperson of
CNPC.
The parties reviewed megaprojects for the construction of the
first line of the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent main gas pipeline and the
Asian Gas Pipeline main gas pipeline.
The interlocutors also discussed the possibilities of bilateral
cooperation between QazaqGaz and CNPC in the gas industry,
including the export of Kazakh gas, the transit potential of the
country’s gas transportation system, and gas exploration
projects.
Following the meeting, Zharkeshov thanked Dai Houliang for many
years of cooperation and trust, and also expressed hope for
fruitful further joint work in the gas sector.
Meanwhile, in 2023, gas production in Kazakhstan amounted to
59.063 billion cubic meters, including large fields such as Tengiz
(16.009 billion cubic meters), Karachaganak (22.385 billion cubic
meters), Kashagan (11.856 billion cubic meters), and others (8.813
billion cubic meters).
Kazakhstan is projected to produce 60.456 billion cubic meters
of raw natural gas in 2024.
