Singapore-based liner operator SeaLead Shipping has set up a new leadership team following a change in ownership earlier this year.
Suleyman Avci has been appointed as global chief executive officer, taking over from SC Chan, who filled the position after Henry Schmidl left as part of the “strategic realignment” under the new ownership.
Prior to joining SeaLead as vice president of global trade management and managing director for Europe and Mediterranean, Avci held several senior leadership roles, including managing director of Arkas Line.
“I look forward to taking SeaLead into its next chapter of growth, leveraging our robust financial position and strategic partnerships to continue our expansion into strategic regions, build strong teams under capable leadership, and strategically timing our investments to enhance our asset base,” Avci said.
In addition, a new five-member board has been appointed with SC Chan as chair, who, apart from his interim CEO role, has served as a strategic advisor to SeaLead since November 2022 and as managing director at OOCL Singapore.
The other four non-executive board members include Joachim Schlotfeldt, Kim Young So, Captain Subhangshu Dutt and Martin Kaalund.
Established in 2017, Sea Lead is ranked 16th by Alphaliner, operating a fleet of 38 chartered-in ships. The company was taken over in February by Singapore’s Eurasia Capital, Cayman Islands-registered Access Capital Funds and Mauritius-based HCP Investments and Saral Incorp VCC SubFund.
