It’s less than a week into the regular season and Tylor Megill is already the second member of the Mets’ starting rotation to hit the IL.
Megill was placed on the 15-Day IL on Monday with a right shoulder strain after being removed from his start at Citi Field on Sunday after four innings.
Right-hander Reed Garrett was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to take Megill’s spot on the roster.
Megill joins Kodai Senga on the IL, with Senga sidelined with a capsule strain on his right shoulder.
It’s the latest bit of bad news for a Mets team that has gotten off to an ugly start, having been swept at home by the Brewers and with the undefeated Tigers coming to town.
Their offense has also looked shaky, with key cogs Brandon Nimmo, Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil going a combined 3-for-36 with one walk and seven strikeouts in the three losses.
