A garda spokesman said the suspect is due before the courts later this evening.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering after gardai stopped a car on the M8 motorway and seized €27,000 in cash on Tuesday.
Gardaí said the cash was discovered after they stopped a vehicle on the M8 near Thurles shortly before 9:00pm on Tuesday,.
In the course of a search, over €27,000 in cash was discovered concealed in the vehicle. Electronic items were also seized alongside a small quantity of cocaine.
During follow up searches in Tipperary town, officers subsequently also seized €70,000 of suspected cocaine and €30,000 of suspected cannabis along with a significant amount of “drugs paraphernalia.”.
A garda spokesman said the suspect is due before the courts later today.
“The driver of the vehicle, a male in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to Section 7 of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing) Act 2010 and detained at a Garda station in Co. Tipperary.
“On Wednesday 11th December 2024, investigating Gardaí seized a car in Limerick in connection with the money laundering investigation.
“The man in his 30s has been charged and is due to appear before Nenagh District Court this morning Thursday, 12th December 2024.”
