While some rely on the kindness of strangers, many a local has found this (and more) in a well respected kindergarten owner.
“Zeena [Raheem, from Cockle Bay Private Kindergarten] has touched the lives of so many children and their families,” explains kindy team member, Liz Sayer. “Her passion in life is children and she loves every single child as if they were her own. The way she is with children cannot be replicated – she is a most genuine and special woman.”
After 14 years, Zeena is moving on from her good work to spend more time with family, leaving her beloved kindergarten in new hands. Tributes from past pupils and their families have been flowing in and the team is set to present Zeena with a special keepsake, a book of fond memories and best wishes.
“She’s been like the grandmother every child needs [and] described as ‘one in a million’,” Liz adds. “She has had such a monumental impact on the local community, helping the next generation of children grow has been outstanding. So many children and parents alike have been affected by her kindness over the years.”
