Good company and plenty of relaxed fun are the recipe ingredients for a perfect staycation.
Unlike a vacation, a staycation does not involve too much adventure and exploration. It is also most likely to be kinder to your wallet as compared to planning an activity-filled vacation.
If a staycation is on your list of plans for this festive season, here are a few ideas to ensure that you enjoy it to the fullest:
Visit your local museum
Visiting your local museum is a great way to play tourist and rediscover your hometown. Often, we get so absorbed in our lives and all which they demand. We never really get the time to explore and enjoy the beauty and attractions closest to us.
If you are vacationing at home this festive, consider museum visits as they are laid-back activities which you can enjoy with your loved ones while still in relaxation mode.
Games and quality time
A staycation is also the ideal opportunity to bond with loved ones around you by playing different games.
From Scrabble to 30 Seconds and even Karaoke, you are guaranteed quality time and plenty of laughter with those closest to you.
Unleash your Inner Barista
When on staycation, it’s a great idea to tap into your creativity and unleash your inner barista by mixing up some good drinks. After all, there’s nothing like a good cocktail to get you through the season’s hot days.
Looking to have a sober staycation? Look no further. Here are some virgin cocktails to try:
Virgin Sunrise
The Virgin Sunrise is a non-alcoholic version of a Tequila Sunrise. Apart from its beautiful colours which resemble the sunrise, it also tastes good and is refreshing.
Ingredients
Orange juice
Sparkling Water or Non-Alcoholic Wine
Grenadine Syrup
Garnish
Method
In your glass of choice, pour equal amounts of orange juice and your choice of sparkling drink.
Pour the grenadine slowly into the glass. Use a measuring spoon as it is very sweet and you won’t be needing much of it.
Garnish your virgin sunrise with your preferred choice of garnish such as berries or cherries.
Cucumber Margarita
This refreshing mocktail is perfect for the summer heat. With every sip, you will enjoy the quenching combination of the cool taste of cucumbers and the fresh flavour of limes.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice
¾ of a cup lemonade
Cucumber slices
Ice
Optional:
Before pouring the drink into your glass, spread salt on a small plate. Rub one lemon wedge on the glass rim and dip the rim of the glass on the salt to decorate.
Method
Combine lemonade, lime juice and cucumber slices in a cocktail shaker.
Fill the shaker with ice, close it and give it a vigorous shake.
Pour the mixture into a glass, garnish with additional cucumber slices and enjoy!
