Former Munster S&C coach knew it was the right thing to do despite his own struggles in Australia
It was this time last year that Jonny McGailey underwent the sixth and final test in the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick, Sydney to discover if he could make a life-changing donation to a friend. McGailey and David Toman have been friends since they shared a house with other students from Dundalk in the Gaeltacht in Donegal 20 years ago.
Years later, they moved to Australia at different times and to different cities – Toman moved to Melbourne 10 years ago, McGailey moved to Sydney four years later. Neither could have foreseen events that led to the ultimate act of friendship that will forever bind them together.
