Elective surgery target missed as nearly one-third of patients overdue

The ACT has failed to meet targets in recent years. In the 2022-23 year the government aimed to complete 14,800 but only 12,629 were completed. The government has previously attributed the shortfalls to the COVID pandemic and a fire in an operating theatre at the former Calvary Public Bruce Hospital. The theatres were closed for a period of time following this.
