Brenden Aaronson and Haji Wright join the US men’s national team roster for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League semifinal against Jamaica, replacing injured figures Josh Sargent and Luca de la Torre.
Sargent suffered a right ankle irritation after initially being called up, while De la Torre picked up a right quadriceps strain
Aaronson is no stranger to the USMNT, earning 38 caps and featuring in the 2022 World Cup squad that reached the Round of 16. He’s managed eight goals and six assists in his international career since debuting in 2020 during a friendly against Costa Rica.
Wright arrives to the March international window with seven senior caps, making all his USMNT appearances in 2022. He played an integral part in the World Cup, scoring the American team’s lone goal in the 3-1 defeat to the Netherlands in the Round of 16.
The 23-player roster will compete against Jamaica in the semifinal on March 21 at 7 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in hopes of defending their title. The USMNT previously lifted the 2021 and 2023 trophies.
“The objective ahead of us is clear. We want to compete for our third Nations League title and continue to challenge ourselves to succeed in knockout round matches,” USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter said.
“This is a group of players with a lot of experience in these types of matches and we look forward to the opportunity.”
