G’day, and welcome to first full Saturday slate of the 2024 AFL season. Opening round was fun, and the ‘G was packed for a Thursday night squeaker and a Friday night thumping, but there is always something about the first Saturday of the season that really signals that footy is back.
The sun is shining in Melbourne, and that’s where we start today. Essendon is keeping a lid on things but expectations are high for Brad Scott’s men, while Sam Mitchell’s Hawks are hoping for another year of progression and more green shoots from a young side. This could be a pretty entertaining – and possibly pretty physical – game, so strap yourselves in.
Then we’ll head to western Sydney where the flag-favourite Giants face the Roos and the hard launch of Northball. Tonight, Geelong opens the Joel Selwood Stand as the Cats take on the Saints at a suddenly pulsating Kardinia Park, while the eye-catching Suns eye a Crows side hopeful of a burst up the ladder this year.
We’ll be here all day and all night, so stick with us for scores, stats, updates, news, opinions, analysis, highlights, fun, games and everything else.
