Prince Harry truly believed that the long-running dispute between him and his family — specifically with his father and brother — would eventually come to an end, according to a report.

The Duke of Sussex attended an event in 2023 and spoke privately about the family dynamics since his book that is critical of King Charles and Prince William, Spare, was published earlier that year.
He was asked privately if anyone from his family had reached out to him, and he said no.
Harry was then asked if the feud between Charles and William will ever be resolved, and he replied there was hope the family would come together to bury the hatchet.
“That’s sort of what made me so sad,” a source told Vanity Fair in a lengthy exposé. “His hope seemed very genuine. And I was just kind of like, ‘Oh, no.’”
The source went on to say Harry may not have realized how the criticisms of his family in the book, specifically William’s “familiar scowl” and “his alarming baldness,” would affect their relationship going forward.

“The power of the written word, and the power of the narrative …,” the source continued. “I don’t know if that’s something he understood while he was doing it.”
In addition, Harry has accused spokespeople for his brother, father and Queen Camilla of feeding the media stories about himself and his family to either distract from the rest of the royals or to neutralize bad press from themselves.
Harry also sued the publisher of the Daily Mail for libel following a 2022 story that accused him of hiding his efforts to receive taxpayer-funded security when travelling to Britain. He dropped the case and was ordered by the judge to pay the paper’s legal fees, which accrued to nearly 50,000 pounds ($88,375).
Elsewhere in the report, Harry’s upbringing in Britain appears to have had a profound effect on his social life since he and his wife, Meghan, moved to California after stepping down as senior royals in January 2020.
“She was up-front about the fact that Harry hadn’t made many friends yet,” the source, who worked in media projects with the couple, said of how Meghan describes her husband outside the clutches of the Royal Family.
“I think Harry doesn’t know what he wants because he grew up in a fishbowl, and so he doesn’t know what real life really is,” the source told Vanity Fair. “I think he probably wants to be left alone and be able to go kiss babies every once in a while but not have to worry about money. I don’t think he wants to be famous the way Meghan wants to be famous.”
