NEW DELHI: Twelve Indian nationals serving in the Russian Armed Forces have lost their lives, while 16 others remain missing, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said on Friday. Among the remaining 30, 12 have been confirmed dead, while 16 have been categorized as “missing” by Russian authorities. Jaiswal noted, “We are seeking early release and repatriation of those who remain.”Energy sanctions and Indian oil purchasesCommenting on additional sanctions targeting Russia’s energy sector, Jaiswal clarified that India is closely coordinating with US authorities to assess potential impacts on Indian entities. “Our oil purchases have been, and will continue to be, guided by our own energy security requirements and prevailing global circumstances,” he emphasized.
