A man labelled by police as a violent repeat offender who was out on bail was charged in connection to an armed robbery during which he allegedly bound and restrained a victim at a residence in Mississauga.
Peel Regional Police said the first incident occurred on Dec. 4, 2024.
The suspect went to the victim’s home, obtained several bank cards, and later compelled the victim to withdraw a substantial amount of money from a financial institution before releasing them unharmed.
At around 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, it’s further alleged that the same individual returned to the victim’s home armed with a handgun, confronted a second victim, and forced his way inside. During the encounter, various items were stolen from the residence.
On Jan. 3, 2025, authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in Mississauga. Police located various weapons, including a Sig Sauer p320 handgun and pellet gun, three prohibited magazines, ammunition that was found in a furnace and an ID belonging to one of the victims.
Darko Jugova, 35, of Mississauga, was on bail release at the time and was arrested. He’s facing several charges, including forcible confinement, robbery, robbery with a firearm, break and enter and extortion, among other related firearm offences.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
“Repeat violent offenders endanger our community and threaten lives,” PRP Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said as part of a news release. “Our investigators will continue to work relentlessly to keep our community safe and are committed to ensuring those responsible for these criminal acts are held accountable.”
