Mid Canterbury coach Matt Winter (with cap on) couldn’t hide his delight after his team’s dramatic 17-16 injury time Meads Cup semi-final win over South Canterbury in Timaru on Saturday.
The victory was one for the ages against the record setting South Canterbury side, which hadn’t lost a Heartland Game in five years for 39-straight victories heading into the knockout match.
Winter and his team now head to Te Aroha to face the Thames Valley Swampfoxes on Saturday – the Hammers first Meads Cup final in 10-years.
