ST-CHRISTOPHE-D’ARTHABASKA — A fatal collision between a motorcyclist and a driver took place late Friday afternoon on Route 161 in St-Christophe-d’Arthabaska in the Centre-du-Québec region.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), who received a call around 5 p.m.
The driver was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.
“Based on initial information, the motorcyclist, who was driving north, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a vehicle driving in the opposite direction,” said SQ spokesperson Camille Savoie.
An inquiry has been launched to establish the causes and circumstances of the incident.
Route 161 is closed to traffic above 9e rang for the investigation.
