An Irish woman has died off the coast of the Italian island of Sardinia.
It is understood the woman drowned after she was swept out to sea yesterday evening.
A body was removed from the water near the village of Portu Maga, Italian Fire officials said.
Local publication L’Unione Sarda reported that helicopters and specialist divers were involved in recovering the body of the 62-year-old.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
It follows the death of a 39-year-old Irish hiker in Sardinia last Friday afternoon, in a separate incident.
The man was hiking in the municipality of Iglesias, on the trail on of the Cammino Minerio di Santa Barbara, between Masua and Cala Domestica.
He was there as part of a walking trip with family and went for a hike on his own.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it was also providing consular assistance in that case.
