Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has been through this before.
During a tumultuous offseason highlighted by legal issues, Mixon was subject to speculation that the Bengals would release him to create some salary-cap relief before he agreed to restructure his contract and take a $4.39 million pay cut last July.
While the Bengals aren’t strapped for cash this year — their $61.3M in 2024 cap space is seventh-most in the league — many have questioned whether Mixon could be released this time and save the team $5.75M as opposed to carrying a $8.85M cap hit into next year.
Mixon doesn’t seem to be worried about his standing with the Bengals, however, as his social media response about possibly being cut suggests his spot on Cincy’s roster is safe and he’s tired of talking about it.
