Indonesian owners are back in the secondhand market having been quiet for most of the year.
VesselsValue registers six Indonesian bulker purchases so far this year, a significant decrease since last year when Indonesian owners picked up 31 ships in total.
This week, Gurita Lintas Samudera is tied to its fifth purchase in a year with brokers linking it to a ship belonging to Greece’s LA Maritime, tabling $14m for the 18-year-old, 56,000 dwt Captain Karam, bringing its bulker arm up to 30 ships if confirmed. The active owner reflagged all its ships back home.
Last month, Seacon offloaded one of its many supramax bulk carriers in a deal with an Indonesian buyer. Primatama Energi Mandiri paid $13.8m for the 2010-built Seacon Yantai.
