The founder of a Vancouver eyewear brand is still reeling after seeing his designs worn by Hollywood icon Meryl Streep at the 66th Grammy Awards.
“Seeing Meryl Streep not only choose our frames but also wear them to a high-profile event like the Grammys was beyond surprising; it was astonishing,” Eric Dickstein, founder of Dutil Eyewear, says. “It felt as if, in a way, we too had won an award.”

The decorated actor donned the eyewear brand’s Dutil Trouble AG14 frames ($668 at dutileyewear.com) to the awards show in Los Angeles on Sunday paired with a chic white pyjama-style set.
Streep reportedly purchased the glasses from an authorized partner store of Dutil’s.
“We had no prior indication that our designs would grace such a significant occasion. Learning that our frames were sold to her was a moment of sheer disbelief and excitement for our team,” Dickstein says.
The founder says Streep’s selection of the unique frames “speaks volumes” about the distinctive style of both her personal style and the local brand.
“It’s a testament to how our eyewear can connect with individuals on a personal level, even someone of Streep’s calibre,” Dickstein says.
As for the impact of having an A-list celebrity like Streep sport a design from a small Canadian brand, Dickstein says the influence cannot be overstated.
“It’s a monumental endorsement for our brand, signifying a level of recognition and visibility that most can only dream of,” Dickstein says. “The feedback since the event has been overwhelmingly positive, with a surge in interest and demand for the specific colour of the frame Meryl chose.
“We’ve had to reorder that colour due to its popularity, which speaks to the influence and trendsetting power of Meryl Streep.”
