Singer Brian Kennedy is ‘to step away from all gigs’ for the coming months for health reasons, his team have said.
The announcement, which was made in a post from Kennedy’s X page said while “there’s nothing sinister going on” he would be taking time to focus on his health.
“Hello all, with immediate effect following doctors advice BK is stepping away from all gigs for the next couple of months to focus on elevating his health,” the post read.
The statement also thanked people for their support.
“Be assured there’s nothing sinister going on. He wants to thank everyone for your understanding and support,” the post finished.
A native of West Belfast, the singer was set to perform at the Ashdown Park Hotel in Gorey, Co Wexford on Friday and venues in Cork, Monaghan and Limerick next month.
In a post on Facebook, the team said Kennedy was “determined to return to his old self”.
“He wants to thank you all, the fans, so much for your unwavering support over the years and he’s determined to return to his old self in time,” the team said on social media.
Along with a break from performing, the singer will also be stepping away from social media.
The team also thanked the venues for their understanding and said that new dates will be organised where possible.
“The upcoming shows are now postponed and another date will eventually be organised in time where possible or a refund,” they said.
